This is a "Healey Hauler" and back up race car (18.6@86mph) I started looking for a cross country tow car for "Zora", that would also be a daily driver/ family car. I
nearly bought a Chevy Tahoe, but , well, ya know, I had to be different.
I learned Chevelle wagons had a frame, and then stumbled on the Vista
Cruiser concept. I started searching the US and especially the 5 state
area. On a deep internet search I found this '72 Vista for sale in Arkansas. It was UGLY!!!!, but I adopted it from the original owner anyway for $250. After sitting for 10 years back by the barn, we finally got it running. I drove it onto the trailer, and the rest will be history! It has a 350 CI Olds V8, converted now to a Holley 4bbl, dual exhaust, 200-4r w a 3.08 diff. It will soon have a Posi 3.73 ! I added Corvette wheels, a raked Mustang hood scoop, and a Buick hood tach, as well as BMW leather front seats. It is joy to drive... It looks tough enough, and it may be the last custom car I build for myself. It's sad but kids think it is a hearse! To me, the "Grey Ghost" proves stationwagons can be cool too. Ever see a station wagon with a hood tach, much less roof windows? Richard "RevVv" Wright |
